If you’re a homeowner wondering about the heat pump installation cost in Peoria AZ, you’re not alone. This is one of the most common questions we get from local residents considering a new HVAC system.
In most cases, installing a new heat pump system in Peoria will cost between $11,000 and $22,500, with the average cost hovering around $14,500. This estimate includes both the outdoor unit and indoor air handler of a standard air source heat pump — not a geothermal system.
But keep in mind: the final cost depends on several important factors. Below, we break down what affects heat pump installation pricing in Peoria AZ so you can make a confident, informed decision.
What Impacts Heat Pump Installation Cost in Peoria AZ?
1. Size of the Heat Pump
- The size of your unit significantly affects the overall cost. Heat pumps are measured in tons based on how much air they can condition — not their weight or physical size. Most homes in Peoria need a system between 1.5 and 5 tons.
- Getting the right size is critical. Too small, and it won’t keep up. Too large, and it may short-cycle, causing wear and wasting energy.
- A Manual J Heat Load Calculation should always be performed to ensure the right fit for your home’s layout, insulation, window placement, and sun exposure.
2. Energy Efficiency Ratings
- Heat pumps are rated by SEER (cooling) and HSPF (heating). Higher ratings mean more efficiency — and often a higher price tag. However, an energy-efficient system can save you thousands over time in utility costs.
- In Peoria’s hot summers, investing in a higher-SEER heat pump could be a smart long-term move.
3. Add-On Features
- Some homeowners choose to enhance their comfort with:
- Smart thermostats
- Variable-speed blower motors
- Whole-home air purifiers
- These features can raise the cost but improve air quality, comfort, and control.
